Meet Ashley Wiggs

Supporting Children & Teenagers in North Carolina
You don’t have to navigate your child’s struggles alone.
Through therapy, your child can better understand their emotions, build confidence, and develop skills to navigate difficult moments with greater resilience. These are tools they can carry with them through future challenges, transitions, and experiences.
Together, we can help your child feel more capable in who they are, more confident in what they can handle, and make space for what’s possible.
Hi, I’m Ashley
I have always felt drawn to creating a space where children and teens feel heard, understood, and accepted for who they are. Young people can sometimes be misunderstood, especially when big emotions show up through behaviors that are difficult for others to make sense of. One of the things I value most about this work is having the opportunity to slow down, look beyond what is happening on the surface, and understand what a child or teen may be trying to communicate underneath.
I believe there is so much more to a young person than the challenges that bring them to therapy. I love helping children and teens recognize their strengths, better understand themselves, and discover what they are capable of. For me, this work is not about changing who a child is. It is about helping them feel seen, supported, and more confident in who they already are.
What I hope to offer each child and teen I work with is a relationship where they can feel comfortable being themselves, knowing they do not have to have everything figured out before they walk through the door. It is a privilege to be someone in their corner as they grow, navigate challenges, and begin to see themselves and their experiences in new ways.
Meet Bea, Ashley’s In-Training Therapy Dog
Bea (short for Beatrice) is a 5-year-old Cavapoo with a gentle heart and a loving personality. Affectionate, friendly, and always ready for a cuddle, Bea has truly never met a stranger. She loves being close to people and has a special way of helping others feel comfortable and welcome.
Known as her mom’s little shadow, Bea happily follows along wherever the day leads. When she gets especially excited, she has an adorable signature greeting—she flops onto the floor, kicks her feet, and lets out a joyful bark! When it’s time to relax, you can often find Bea snuggled up on the back of a sofa or chair, keeping a close watch on the people she loves.
Bea is currently in training to become an Animal-Assisted Therapy dog and is already sharing her calm, affectionate nature with those around her. Whether she is offering quiet companionship, cozy snuggles, or a playful moment of joy, Bea is excited to share comfort, connection, and plenty of tail wags with everyone she meets.
My Approach
Therapy doesn’t have to look like sitting in a chair and talking for the entire session. Depending on age, personality, and individual needs, our time together may involve conversation, play, creative activities, movement, or simply taking time to slow down and check in. I want children and teens to feel comfortable being themselves without fear of judgment, while meeting them where they are with an approach that feels natural, meaningful, and individualized to them.
My approach to therapy is collaborative, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and empowering. I work with children and teens navigating trauma and stress, challenges with emotional regulation, behavioral concerns, and adjustment to changes or transitions in their lives. Together, we’ll get curious about what may be happening underneath, explore emotions and patterns, and build practical skills that can be used beyond the therapy room. My goal is to create a supportive space where young people can better understand themselves, recognize their strengths, and navigate challenges with greater confidence and resilience.
